Our bookshop is closed at the moment and our books have been taken off the internet.
(We usually advertise on Amazon, ABE and Biblio). As soon as is reasonable we will place books back on the internet before the shop is re-opened, hopefully in the next few weeks. Our website is still open and books may be ordered by calling 0114 2689393, our home number, or by sending an email. (email@example.com).
We look forward to resuming business as soon as possible.
On 2 May 2019 we opened a bookshop at Bakewell. We have moved all our stock into nice new premises. The shop occupies two floors and one room is dedicated to our natural history and ornithology titles. Parking is available close-by and the shop is on the main street.
The address is: 14 Matlock Street Bakewell DE45 1EE
We have just bought a small collection of hand-made books published by the Tern Press, which was started in 1973 by Nicholas and Mary Perry.
To find these scarce and handsome books go into the stock-list and put in the word ‘tern’ in the Publisher search box.
In starting the project, Nicholas Parry said: “Our initial aims were to relate each subject to a relative set of materials. To think of the book as an overall work of art, rather like an opera, with a body (stage – props – paper – binding), intellect (thoughts – words – libretto), and feelings (music – colour – prints), to try, as in all art, to produce a form that lives and breathes. Thus our books are not conceived, designed, produced through process, but are perceived, arranged and produced through craft.”
